National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Resources
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support for eligible Australians living with permanent and significant disability to access the reasonable and necessary supports they need to achieve their goals and participate in everyday life. For people living with TSC (Tuberous Sclerosis Complex), navigating the NDIS can be complex due to the lifelong nature of the condition and its impact on functional capacity across many areas of life. On this page you will find NDIS-related resources TSA has developed to support its TSC Community.
NDIS Changes
In April 2026, the Australian Government announced a series of changes to the NDIS aimed at making the scheme more sustainable. The information on these pages is still current and correct until such changes are enacted.
We understand that any changes to the NDIS can create uncertainty and anxiety, especially for individuals and families who rely on this support.
The proposed reforms are intended to focus on:
- Reducing fraud and misuse of funds
- Slowing overall cost growth
- Clarifying who is eligible for the NDIS
- Improving the quality and consistency of supports and services
The changes are expected to be introduced through new legislation following the 2026–27 Federal Budget.
One very significant change is that access to NDIS funding will be based on functional capacity assessments rather than medical diagnoses. This change is not slated to come into effect until January 2028.
TSA will continue to monitor updates and share information as it becomes available.
You can find a factsheet from the Department of Health about the proposed changes here.
