Further update for our TSC Community in WA, August 2024

Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) has provided TSA with a further update with regards to the planned resumption of VEEG* services at the Hospital.

Whilst recruitment of suitably qualified Neurophysiologists to run the VEEG service has disappointingly been further delayed, it is ongoing and suitable candidates have been found. PCH hopes that the VEEG service will recommence in late 2024 or very early in 2025.

For patients on the VEEG monitoring waitlist, PCH continue to assure us that a multidisciplinary case conference clinic and clinical meeting time are ongoing, ensuring each child has a plan in place, with safety as the top priority. They have recently sent out an update to all affected families. A copy can be found below.

Please note that since this update in June 2024 was sent from PCH, Seer Medical has announced it will be closing its clinics across Australia for an extended period.

TSA and PCH will continue to keep the lines of communication open and we will publish any further updates.

In the meantime, if any families in WA have specific concerns related to this issue, please do call us on 1300 733 435 or email us at [email protected]

* VEEG is used to monitor brainwaves and seizure activity over multiple days and is often used in the diagnosis, management and work up for surgery for patients with TSC who have retractable epilepsy.
