SIBS-ONLINE
A group of researchers at the University of New South Wales is conducting a study to test an online psychosocial program, SIBS-ONLINE, for siblings aged 12-18 years and parents of patients with developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, which includes TSC. The aim of the program is to:
- Connect you with other families in group sessions
- Teach you skills in communicating with your child (the sibling)
- Provide your child with a supportive space to voice their questions and concerns
There are currently no formal programs to support adolescent siblings of children with developmental and epileptic encephalopathies in Australia, and past research indicates that siblings wish to connect more with their parents for emotional support. SIBS-ONLINE provides siblings and one of their parents with this opportunity to connect, whilst being supported by other siblings and parents in the group sessions.
