Our 2024 Elizabeth Pinkerton Memorial Award Winner!
Dr Simon Harvey is a paediatric neurologist and epileptologist with special expertise in epilepsy surgery, EEG and neuroimaging. Simon is the clinical lead of the epilepsy program at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne and he is the winner of the Elizabeth Pinkerton Memorial Award in 2024.
Dr Simon Harvey is well-known in the TSC Community in Australia and has helped numerous children living with TSC.
Simon is the first health care professional to win this award for the second time (he last won in 2016).
This year’s nomination came from a parent of a child living with TSC, who said:
“Simon went out on a limb after our daughter was said to not be able to have another surgery in hoping to stop spasms. He took a chance and she is no longer having spasms. We will be forever grateful to Simon Harvey, Kathryn Santamaria and Wirginia Maixner at RCH Melbourne.”
Dr Harvey said he was honoured to receive the award, again. He thanked the TSC Community for recognising his clinical work and research in TSC with this award.
He remarked, “my TSC families are amongst my favourite patients, and I cherish the opportunities I have had to share in their journeys.”
