Welcome to our June eNewsletter in which we bring you the exciting news that a new TAND Toolkit App is now available. Our sincere thanks and congratulations to the international team who have worked so hard over so many years to develop this App. This is truly one of the most important developments in TSC this decade.

TAND Toolkit App - NOW LIVE

Most people living with TSC will experience some impacts on their behaviour, learning and mental health (TAND). These are often the most difficult symptoms of TSC for patients and families to cope with.

The new TAND Toolkit App helps you track your or your loved one’s TAND challenges, as well as access a range of resources and guidance about common TAND issues, including sleep, anxiety and behaviours of concern. This app is one of the most important developments in TSC this decade. We encourage you to check it out.

Make your health care professional's day

The Elizabeth Pinkerton Memorial Award  is given annually by TSA to a health care professional. It recognises their efforts to improve the lives of TSC patients and their families. Nominations come from you, the TSC Community.

Last year's winner was Elle (pictured), a rare disease Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Elle said, "I am touched the families thought of me for the nominations. It really means the world to me!”

Nominations for the 2026 Award are now open.

What Otis says...

Otis says, "If you're looking for a great charity to give your hard earned dollars to, instead of the tax man, look no further! All donations to TSA over $2 are tax deductible and you get to help children like me and my friends." He's a wise little boy...

PREVeNT trial

Our latest Research Insight highlights a study which looked at whether starting vigabatrin (an anti-epileptic medication) early could help prevent intellectual and developmental disability and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in infants with TSC.

SIBS-ONLINE

A group of researchers at the University of New South Wales is conducting a study to test an online psychosocial program, SIBS-ONLINE, for siblings aged 12-18 years and parents of people living with TSC.

The aim of the program is to:

  • Connect families in group sessions
  • Teach skills in communicating with your child (the sibling)
  • Provide siblings with a supportive space to voice their questions and concerns
